Well, what can I say, cold kicks inn but I’ll keep it warm for this post, since I’m sharing the outfit from August. Even though I’m not a big fan of sweatshirt – for some reason I don’t see it fits my attitude- it gives a great liberty to keep yourself in a teenage-dirtbag-state. This is something I need today, before that dark day called birthday comes. Only few days left… I can’t understand why woman kind also have birthdays, keep us alone you monster called age!

From all the things I am, I can call myself a great dreamer first. Every new city is full of adventures and the moment you leave it, it becomes the greatest memory. Anyhow, Helsinki had the most special place in my heart forever, yet it was always bookmarked with ‘someday’.
-(Putting more into today instead of endless planning pays off (most of the time). )-
We came to the capital of Finland after… 16 hours on bus and two hours on a boat. We were crushed; my spine has turned into question mark and eyes poped out trying to keep us awake. But the excitement was taking over and in six little hours we visited:
x Suomenlinna – the island that can be reached by ferry which leaves at port next to Market Square. Island is one of the world heritage sights and is historicly important sight. Yet, for me as an Easter european it wasn’t much of an excitement, since the grounds of island tells stories of World War II monuments and Russian influence. I’m all familiar with that from my own backgrounds, anyways, it is a beautiful place covered in rocks and geese are everywhere. First two pics are actually taken there, peacefull, isn’t it?
x Market Square – the most famous market in Finland, offering lovely souvenirs from natives, it’s a good place to get something like horn pendant. Also, you can get a bag of berries or mushrooms in there.
x Tavastia + Semifinal – it was a day time so we managed to take a peak only from the outside. Yet we are really happy we found two greatest rock clubs in Finland. These where the homes for most of soon to be world known rock stars. We’ll come back there for Helldone festival, I’m pretty sure.
x Temppeliaukio church – a Rock Church. Yet it’s not called under this name because long haired dudes play there (this is what I would think, haha)- church itself is excavated into solid rock. Miraculous architecture, very modern and very extraordinary!
x Aikuisten Lelukauppa – well, if you know it, you know it. Oh, and if you don’t here’s a story: it’s an adult shop for all the kinky stuff and the owner of the shop is Kari Valo. He is a father of Ville Valo who plays vocal for ‘love metal’ band HIM. Now, shop is more attractive for fans as a place for exclusive merchandise more than sex toys. The band itself is called biggest exports of Finland ever and every supermarket is full of stuff with the band. Since we still had sentimentality for teenage rebelion years, this was a must to go to.
For the end of sightseening of this capital we passed by some other landmarks like Senate Square and Uspenski Cathedral and had a very expensive beer. Quite productive, weren’t we?
Helsinki is a small city and it’s quite new so it is good to plan ahead because it’s not majestic place for tourists eye and there is no labyrinth like streets. Yet, it’s full of Chrismtas shops and raindeers (in all shapes and forms) and don’t forget that it’s a land of moomins.
This time I couldn’t be fashionable but for stylish traveler I would definitely recommend to visit Design District
One last thing, I love about Finland it’s blue haired guys and gals in Dr. Martens wearing metal band t-shir everywhere.
As promised in previous post, I’m tracking down the my journey through Northern Europe. For this post it’s Stockholm. We spendend one day there rushing in the old town with no major purpose, since love of our lifes is Helsinki. Yet, we had an amazing time because capital of Sweden is full of lovely streets that gets you lost and Gamla Stan – old town- itself is a challenge for irresponsible wanderers.
One thing, that makes me glad, it is wayyy cheaper than Oslo or Helsinki and you can feel almost comfortable once paying for your dinner in the restaurant. It’s pitty we didn’t have much time to go for a cocktails in Vampire Lounge , it’s a lovely cheap place for drinks. This one is almost only memory from to my first time in Stockholm, when I was there with my brother.
Well, enought of sentimentality because all I can say: this city is a wonderfull place for people who love culture-rich cities with old town fuuull of shops that fashionistas would die-for… But my very own fancyness went only as far as H&M -( come on it’s swedish brand!) since this shop is in every-single-corner of the capital.
I wanted to do this for ages. Seriously, now I can not see what took me so long to turn my hair into the ocean waves, mixing up shinny greys and blue – electric color tones. Its quite interesting how hair color plays along with your outfits and black suited clothing comes to the level of perfection.
